Digital Art and Colouring
These are two digital paintings I made in Procreate as personal projects. Throughout both projects I have learned a lot about Colour Theory, specifically with regards to colour contrast, and how that is used to create stunning pieces.
Specifically with the self portrait. I tried using a particular kind of shading called cel-shading. Which consists of highlights, neutrals and shadows being solid blocks of colour, with no gradient to transition between them. I also used a vibrant and unusual colour palette to give it a surreal aesthetic.
For the wolf portrait, I used contrasting colours (black, white and red) to make the image appear more striking and intense looking. I also made use of the negative space with the black as part of the fur and nose, adding to the piece's appeal and making it more impressive looking.
If I became a Graphics Designer or a Motion Graphics animator, I could use these paintings as examples of my work. As these two professions both require an understanding of Colour Theory, and how certain colours portray certain emotions and feelings.
